Artist Statement The connection of entities, as well as elements, has been an investigation that fuels my work for a long time. The contrast, as well as the threads that connect these binary elements, are an important core to my work. I have many binary facts working in my life. Having a twin, living in two different countries, the masculine and feminine, Heaven and Hell, the duel life, the physical and spiritual, make up not only who I am but also what I believe. This conflict of connections allows my work to be generated from an authentic relationship with myself as well as my relationships and struggles. Paint becomes a vehicle that I can interact with. The ink of a print facilitates this by the physicality of making. The duality of drawing connects the mediums as well as standing alone. This connection and interconnection is rooted in the core of my work. Both worlds are separate and yet combined they become a different entity. One world that because they are connected they thus can influence each other. Some are distant, some are far, and yet they exist because there is this connection. My thoughts rise from my struggles, my longing, my wrestling with myself as well as others. My work also connects me, as a maker, to the conceptuality of making. I look at my work as a thread or threads that translates my thoughts and worlds into the physical world.
